"ok so, this is our last cigarette..."

"ok, wait, what?" jonghyun asks, capturing key's face and surprising him with his touch.

the other boy halts, his hands by his sides as he automatically faces jonghyun. "our last stick."

"no yeah i get that but why?"

"are you kidding?" it's not a question. key pops one of the last two between his lips, pouting it out to light it properly as he wiggles out of jonghyun's reach. "this is what we knew from the very beginning."

jonghyun tips to the side dangerously, his lips leaning threateningly near key's. key falls apart then, thinking to himself "why? why now? why ever?" and it doesn't make sense at all when jonghyun plucks the cigarette from key's lips and licks him clean.

it's not romantic. if anything it's all tongue and a little bit of teeth, something weirdly stale in between the immediate slide of tongue and key struggles to keep up with the movement because everything is moving so fast in between years of knowing jonghyun and nothing is spinning or sparking or fireworking. key feels betrayed but nothing shows. he's a little drunk but there are no judges to make him feel guilty. there's only jonghyun's sharp eyes, closed in the night as he works his way into key's mouth and all key keeps thinking about is "this is
really happening, this is really happening" and really, what does he expect? it's been years hasn't it? and months of tiptoeing around one another. it's not really love. not even close. maybe it's like or something magnetic like that.

because key knows it's not electricity. but there's something peculiar about the way the bits of him fight against one another when jonghyun touches him, the way jonghyun circles his hands around his waist and make him feel close to being electrocuted.

but desire is only as deep as the night sky because when morning breaks, the stars will cry and hide behind everything clear and crisp. because the light can never be without the day and key can always find jonghyun slumped somewhere in the morning, holding onto him like last night was never enough.

"do you think i'm pretty?" key asks out of nowhere because he wants to feel beautiful tonight.

"yes." jonghyun nods without a moment's hesitance and all the puzzle pieces become even more complicated as they blur boundaries together. "i think you're very pretty."
